Otherwise known as the K-Town Om-Nom-Nomz Festival. LA isn’t your usual American BBQ town like Houston or Memphis, it’s a whole-hearted Korean BBQ town. Which is no surprise, given K-town is the largest Korean enclave in America. And now, on August 7, noon – 7pm, Angelenos can witness the cook-off of champions and find out who will emerge victorious as the KBBQ Master.
Los Angeles’s Second Annual Korean BBQ Cook-off will showcase some of the best dishes by top Korean BBQ restaurants. Last year featured Beverly Soon Tofu, Byul Dae Po (Star BBQ), Ham Ji Park, Jinju Galbi, Mu Dae Po, Park’s BBQ, So Hyang, Moo Dae Po and Soowon Galbi. So you know this year will be equally if not more so delicious.
Also on tap is an All-You-Can-Eat Contest with Mystery Ingredient, Soju Mix-Off, the long-awaited Cook-Off Competition, Awards Ceremony. All plates of food are a mere $5, there’s a beer garden, other food vendors (but why?), and all the galbi, LA galbi, pork ribs, and bulgogi you can possible shake a stick at.
The event takes place in the parking lot of the 3600 Wilshire Building, located between Kingsley Dr. and Harvard Blvd. Because the parking lot will be filled with nomz, it’s recommended that you take the train for once in your life, or bike.
