It’s what Baccanalia is all about – a swirling festival of art, live music, live painting, art installations, with cheese and wine flowing all around. The Daydream Republic has started off 2010 with a bang, moving into a bigger space at 4500 West Jefferson – remember the tiny gallery space they had in 2009 on West Adams? Eeps! Talk about small!
A party like this deserves room to roam and dance – resident DJs include Mason (Quality/Meterhead), LC/Mr. Numberonderful (Thinkspace, Cannibal Flower), and Shady Hasty (Projections/Orgone). If you can make it to the Bacchanal this Friday, Jan. 15, there will also be a special artist reception featuring guitarist Emile Poree with special guests and DJ El Dopa.
Visual artists for this inaugural Bacchanal – and to set the bar high for future Bacchanals are Vladimir Zimakov, Uri Averbuch, Crystal Sylver, NS David, with live painting by Prince Parise, John Culqui, Lane Shih, and Laura Diamond.
Don’t forget to bring your wallet, there’s tons of one-of-a-kind wearable art from local artists featured at the Bacchanal Bazaar, and bring your hunger – you won’t want to miss the international cuisine brought to you from Kamiwo. Bacchanal is every Friday, from 8pm – 2am, but start going now before it gets way cool and all the hipsters start showing up!
